Integrative Counselling in Bradworthy and Online.

Your living is determined not so much by what happens to you, as by the way your mind looks at what happens

- Kahlil Gibran

Welcome, and thank you for visiting Eksa Pomeroy Counselling.

We all face difficulties in our lives from time to time. Whether it is struggling with anxiety or self esteem, past trauma that is impacting our current thoughts and behaviours, or relationship problems. It’s a natural part of life. Talking to friends and family may help, but when you work with a professional, who is trained to listen and experienced in supporting people, it can help you understand yourself better, get to the root cause of your problems and find ways to manage your emotions so you can achieve your goals and fulfil your potential.

Hi, I’m Eksa, a qualified Integrative Counsellor based in Bradworthy on the Devon and Cornwall border. I provide counselling for individual adults on a short term or long term basis. I work with clients in person and online using a video platform like Zoom. Based in the rolling hills of North Devon, I also offer eco therapy, where clients can talk through their issues while enjoying all the benefits of being in nature.

How Counselling can help you?

Counselling provides you with the opportunity to step out of your busy life and focus on you and the issues that are preventing you from fulfilling your potential. In a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space, we can explore your struggles together, so you can achieve greater self awareness and work towards managing your emotions better. I am not here to fix you. I am here to walk alongside you, offering you a fresh perspective on your struggles and helping you find your own answers from within. This way, you can move towards greater independence and living your life in the way that you want to.

A problem shared

Sharing your problems with a professional can be a really helpful and healing experience. It gives you a chance to express your thoughts and emotions in a safe and non-judgmental space, and you can gain insights from a trained professional who can offer an objective perspective on your struggles. When you share your problems, you can start to understand yourself better, your relationships, and your experiences, and work towards finding solutions to your challenges. The counselling process can help you develop resilience and coping skills, which can improve your overall mental health and well-being.

Eco Therapy

If you're looking for a unique and beneficial therapeutic experience, you might want to consider trying Eco Therapy. This type of therapy involves walking side by side with me in a natural outdoor setting while discussing your concerns, goals, or challenges. Eco Therapy is suitable for individuals of all ages and fitness levels and can be particularly beneficial for those who find it difficult to sit still for extended periods or who feel uneasy in a traditional office setting.

You have the answers within

Counselling is all about empowering you to find your own answers and solutions to the challenges you're facing. I won't give you a list of instructions to follow or tell you what to do. With my help, you can work towards finding your own solutions and strategies that feel right for you, and that you can implement in your day-to-day life. By finding your own answers, you can build your confidence and resilience, and take control of your own life.

About Me

My counselling career started when lockdown began. I quickly realised the quality of resilience as part of being human and how some of us managed through what was an incredibly difficult time. With this, I believe that my passion in helping others can help people to go through their life challenges.

I genuinely want to show my clients that with with some professional help and directions, they can have an alternative perspective and improve their well-being. They can get back in control to master their own life. Some of my counselling work took place in a GP practice and I assess them and establish whether counselling is suitable or if they need to be referred to the GP for other treatment that is more appropriate.

Aside from that, I have some experience for domestic abuse and trauma survivors. I try to build longer relationships with all my clients. For me, it is important to take a holistic approach to counselling and be attuned to any potential secondary trauma. Trauma can be implicit, and some are not aware of other coping mechanisms that has been learned through a traumatic period in their live. It will be beneficial to explore how clients can unlearn this and start to be living live at its best.

I also work for a corporate client as a counsellor for their EAP programme. This is about building resilience in the here and now, using Solution Focused Brief Therapy model. This is typically delivered up to six or eight sessions.

I am committed to expanding on my skills and I attend regular CPD sessions so I can offer the best service possible for the clients that I work with. As a member of the BACP I am fully insured and I adhere to their code of ethics.

Qualifications:

  • BSc Plymouth – Sociology
  • Level 4 Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling

Working with Me

Initial Consultation

Before we begin working together, we can have a free 30 minute initial consultation, either over the phone or on zoom to find out what brings you to counselling and what you’d like to achieve. I will find out a little more about you, your background and your experiences to see if I can help you. It is also an ideal opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about counselling so you feel comfortable and confident should we decide to move forward. At the end of the consultation, we can decide if we are a good therapeutic fit and arrange your first appointment.

My Approach

As an integrative counsellor, I may draw upon a range of approaches in our sessions together. The approaches I use depend entirely on you and your situation, so this means that you get a completely personalised service, tailored to your unique circumstances and goals.

Eco Therapy

My practice is based in Bradworthy on a working farm. We have extensive private grounds set in the beautiful Devon countryside for us to engage in Eco Therapy, should you wish.

What is Eco Therapy?

During an Eco Therapy session, we walk side by side while discussing your concerns, challenges, or goals. The aim of Eco Therapy is to provide a non-traditional therapeutic experience that can be more comfortable and less intimidating for clients who may feel uneasy in an office or clinical setting.

Why Eco Therapy?

The physical activity of walking can help to reduce stress, increase energy, and stimulate creative thinking. Not to mention being out in nature and benefiting from all it has to offer.

Eco therapy is suitable for individuals of all ages and fitness levels, and can be particularly beneficial for those experiencing anxiety or depression, as well as for those who find it difficult to sit still for extended periods.

If the weather is particularly bad, I also provide a covered outdoor space for us to work in, so we can enjoy the benefits of being outdoors without getting drenched.
